Josh started with us at Pure Fitness in January and initially signed up for a 6 month contract. Straight away he was determined to work hard toward his initial goal. He opted to take out personal training sessions in order to really push himself.
Our first session was upon us and on the scales he went. To his dismay, he wasn’t best pleased with the results. Let’s just say his trip to Florida had an impact!
His form and posture was never in doubt from day one as he has a background in strength and conditioning from his time at University. This is always great news as we didn’t waste much time in getting right into the thick of our intense conditioning sessions.
Testament to Josh, he never batted an eyelid with the sessions we did. He always gave 100% with me and pushed himself right to the limits which I respected.
We have built up a very good relationship since January. I knew exactly how to challenge him and he appreciated this (sometimes he may not to refer to me as Alex after certain sessions should we say!). This is reflected in how he trains now as he will often push himself and actually OPT to increase weights on certain exercises.
His hard work from January along with slight changes to his diet and exercise regime is obvious to see. He has increased his strength, his endurance and his ability to recover after intense circuits set…not to mention lost a load of weight!
Always a pleasure training and look forward to continue our sessions to see what we can achieve!
Well, 5.30 am is time and first work out done.
See below my thoughts on why I started and continued with the gym. Most important word there is continued with the gym as without the pt support this most likely wouldn’t have happened.
I’d put on a little weight consistantly over the past few year and hit it hard over Christmas so I January I decided to do something about it. With my sporting past, being a university sports scholar, I knew a quick fix wasn’t the answer, neither was a “diet”. Neither work long term. I needed a lifestyle change.
I had tried year on year getting back into the gym on my own after finishing university, however I had never kept to the plan. For my sins I contact pure fitness and signed up for personal training with Alex Jones. I initially did this for a set of ten sessions to get me back into the routine of going to the gym and focus my made. Now we are 6 months down the line and I’ve continued with my session, 1 a week, and now lost almost 15kg and 5inch around my stomach.
Saying this however, 1 session a week wouldn’t have been enough to achieve what I have so far. Alex isn’t only supportive during the sessions but also outside of them. Providing an initial nutrition plan, more focused on calorie intake rather than the actual food I eat. He also provides that little kick up the back side when your in the gym working out on your own with comments as he walks past. Not only does he know what he’s talking about, but he’s been able to push me and make work harder than I would have done on my own.
I still have a long way to go in fitness, but I plan to continue sessions with Alex now not so much focused on weight loss, although there is still plenty to lose, but now I can start to focus on toning up and achieving muscle definition.
